2026 GMC Canyon Denali 4WD Crew Cab: Full Feature Overview

Most midsize trucks make you pick between capable and comfortable. The 2026 GMC Canyon Denali doesn’t ask you to choose. It’s the top trim in the Canyon lineup, and it earns that spot with a premium interior, standard four-wheel drive, and a turbocharged engine that moves more than three tons of trailer. It also seats five, fits in a normal parking spot, and gets better fuel economy than a full-size.

If you’ve been on the fence between a midsize and a full-size, the Denali trim is the truck that makes the midsize case most convincingly. Here’s a full look at what’s under the hood, inside the cab, and on the screen.

Engine and powertrain

Every 2026 Canyon runs the same engine: a turbocharged 2.7L four-cylinder TurboMax producing 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s a strong number for this class. The 8-speed automatic transmission handles shifts cleanly across all drive modes.

Four driving modes come standard: Normal, Terrain, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul. You’re not just picking a vibe here. Each mode adjusts throttle response, transmission behavior, and traction management to match what you’re actually doing. Hauling a boat feels different than navigating a gravel two-track, and the Canyon accounts for both.

4WD is standard on the Denali. You don’t pay extra for it or have to remember to spec it. It’s there.

Towing and capability

Up to 7,700 lbs. of towing with the Trailering Package. That covers most pontoon boats, utility trailers, horse trailers, and a lot of campers. For central Wisconsin, that’s a practical number. Fishing season, deer camp, hauling equipment from the farm co-op. It handles the everyday stuff and the weekend stuff.

The integrated trailering tools make the process easier too. You get a Trailer Theft Alert, Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, and available Hitch Guidance with Hitch View. If backing a trailer into a tight spot is the part you hate most about towing, the camera system helps.

Interior and comfort

The Denali interior is where this truck separates from the rest of the Canyon lineup. Leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, and a Safety Alert Seat that uses vibration patterns to communicate driver alerts without a chime. It’s a small thing that makes a real difference on long drives.

Dual-zone automatic climate control keeps the driver and passenger at their own preferred temperatures. The cabin seats five with two front buckets and a rear bench. Rear legroom is tight, as it is on most crew cab midsize trucks, but the front two seats are genuinely comfortable for long hauls.

Chrome exterior trim marks the Denali from the outside. 20-inch wheels come standard. It reads as a premium truck before you ever open the door.

Technology and infotainment

The 11.3-inch diagonal center touchscreen is a big screen with a clean layout. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work without a cable. The digital gauge cluster puts speed, navigation, and alerts front and center without requiring you to take your eyes off the road.

The head-up display is Denali-exclusive in this lineup. It projects key data onto the windshield so you’re reading your speed and turn-by-turn directions while looking at the road. Once you’ve driven with one, it’s hard to go back.

Bose premium audio is also Denali-only. It’s not just more speakers. The system is tuned for the specific acoustics of the Canyon cabin. The difference is noticeable on a longer drive.

The Surround-Vision camera system gives you a 360-degree bird’s-eye view around the truck. That’s useful in parking lots, on trail, and any time you’re maneuvering somewhere tight.

Safety features

The Canyon Denali comes loaded with standard driver assistance tech. Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Following Distance Indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams are all standard across the Canyon lineup.

The Denali adds Rear Pedestrian Alert. Combined with the Surround-Vision system, you have a solid view of everything around the truck when you’re maneuvering in close quarters. The Safety Alert Seat adds a tactile layer to hazard warnings that doesn’t require you to take your eyes off the road or process an audio chime.

GMC covers the 2026 Canyon with a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
