On Thursday, May 31, visitors to Jack Nikolay Field participated in a special Test Drive event to raise funds for local sports.

Wheelers Chevrolet of Abbotsford joined forces with Chevrolet and the Chevy Youth Baseball program in an effort to provide new equipment, instruction opportunities as well as sponsorship dollars for the Abbotsford High School baseball team and Abby Heat Youth Baseball and Softball.

In 2018, the Chevy Youth Baseball Test Drive Fundraising Opportunity is a program by which Wheelers Chevrolet of Abbotsford provide $20 on behalf of every customer that visits the event and takes a test drive in any one of the new Chevrolet vehicles in stock, up to a maximum of $2,000.00

On hand in Abbotsford were several Chevrolet vehicles, which 33 people enjoyed test driving, raising $1160 for Abbotsford High School baseball team and Abby Heat Youth Baseball and Softball. Dan Wheeler and his son Roe, who is a youth baseball player, threw out the first pitch. Wheelers gave away shirts and items to the youth, as well as presented a check from Chevy and Wheelers for $500 dollars. Despite the rainy weather, eager drivers waited in line to test drive a Chevy Silverado 1500, Traverse, Equinox, and Malibu.

“It was a successful evening for Abby Heat Baseball and Softball,” said Ryan Bargender, Principal. “We are thankful for our supportive parents and community members. We enjoy our partnership with Wheelers Chevrolet of Abbotsford and look to make this an annual event.”

“It was a fun night and great to be able to help benefit local sports teams,” added Mary Jo Wheeler-Schueller, owner of Wheelers Family Auto Group. “We enjoyed meeting everyone and showcasing some of our vehicles.”
