At Wheelers Family Auto Group, our commitment to community runs deep. For over 60 years, our family business has stood behind local causes that uplift youth, families, and the future of Marshfield. We’re proud to be among the supporters of the new Columbus Catholic Schools Fieldhouse — a $12 million, community-funded project that’s already making a powerful difference.

The newly opened Fieldhouse features:

• Four full-size basketball and volleyball courts
• Four new classrooms to support growing enrollment
• A full fitness center, locker rooms, and batting cages
• Referee rooms, event stage, concessions, and restrooms
• Seating for hundreds of tournament guests
• A new museum-style digital display to celebrate school history

“Supporting education and youth development has always been a priority for our family and our business,” said Mary Jo Wheeler-Schueller, Owner of Wheelers Family Auto Group. “This fieldhouse represents something bigger than just a school gym — it’s a space for families, for future leaders, and for our entire community to come together.”

Wheelers proudly sponsored the new fitness center — a critical component of the facility that gives students, athletes, and even families space to grow and stay healthy together. It’s just one of the many ways this fieldhouse is already helping to restore balance in student life.

Joe Konieczny, Columbus Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach, said the difference is immediate:

“Now every high school team can practice at 3:00 and be home by 6:30 for family dinner. Our younger teams start at 5:00 instead of 8:30 p.m. We’re helping families reclaim their evenings.”

Over the years, Coach Konieczny saw the strain of growth on Columbus’s single gym, built in 1952. With increasing enrollment and a booming youth sports culture, it became clear the school — and the community — needed more space. The solution grew into a shared vision, one that Wheelers and other local partners rallied behind.

“We’re grateful to be part of this legacy project. This isn’t just about building something new — it’s about investing in something lasting,” Wheeler-Schueller added. “Our name may be on the wall, but it belongs to everyone who believes in this community.”

And the community answered the call. In total, the school raised over $12 million, nearly all from private donors, many of them local businesses. From $250,000 gifts to $500 checks, the outpouring of support proved just how much people believe in Marshfield’s future.

The fieldhouse is already attracting regional attention. With five courts, six volleyball tournaments scheduled this fall, and plans for basketball tournaments and events like Alpine Holiday, the facility is expected to generate substantial economic activity in Marshfield.

Coach Konieczny echoed the community-first mindset:

“We feel a real responsibility to give back. Everyone who donated, prayed, or volunteered made this happen. Now it’s our job to make sure the facility serves the entire Marshfield community.”
