Wheelers Chevrolet GMC Supports New Scoreboard at Jack Hackman Field

Jack Hackman Field has long been a special place for baseball in Marshfield. From high school games and Legion Baseball to community tournaments and summer nights at the ballpark, the field has helped bring players, families, and fans together for many years.

Thanks to a generous $12,500 donation from Wheelers Chevrolet GMC, along with additional support from Nasonville Dairy and Sanford Health Marshfield Clinic, Jack Hackman Field now has a new scoreboard that will improve the game-day experience for everyone who steps inside the ballpark.

According to Nicolas Kumm, Board Member/Sponsor Coordinator with Marshfield Legion Baseball, the previous scoreboard had served the community well but had reached the end of its useful life.

“The new scoreboard provides a better overall experience for everyone involved,” said Kumm. “Players and coaches benefit from improved visibility and reliability, while families and fans can more easily follow the action from anywhere in the ballpark. Visiting teams and tournament participants will enjoy a first-class facility that reflects the pride Marshfield takes in its baseball programs. The upgraded scoreboard also enhances the atmosphere for the many games, tournaments, and special events hosted at Hackman Field each year.”

Wheelers Chevrolet GMC’s contribution played an important role in helping make the project possible. The new scoreboard is more than just an upgrade to the field. It is an investment in youth athletics, community pride, and the organizations that help bring people together through baseball.

Kumm said Wheelers’ support means a great deal to Marshfield Legion Baseball and to the broader community.

“Wheelers’ support represents much more than a financial contribution,” Kumm said. “It reflects a commitment to youth athletics, community pride, and the organizations that bring people together.”

While Marshfield Legion Baseball helped lead the project, the benefits extend well beyond one team or program. Jack Hackman Field is used by Marshfield High School, Columbus Catholic, the Marshfield Chaparrals, Legion Baseball, and numerous tournament participants throughout the season. The upgraded scoreboard helps improve a facility that serves players and fans across the entire community.

For players and coaches, the new scoreboard offers better visibility and dependable functionality throughout the game. For families and fans, it makes it easier to follow the action from anywhere in the ballpark. For visiting teams and tournament guests, it adds to the experience of playing at a first-class facility that reflects Marshfield’s pride in its baseball programs.

The timing of the project is especially meaningful as Marshfield prepares to host the AAA State Legion Baseball Tournament from July 28 through August 1. The tournament will bring eight of Wisconsin’s top Legion baseball teams to Marshfield, along with their families, coaches, and supporters.

Hosting a state tournament is a major opportunity for the community. In addition to showcasing Marshfield’s baseball facilities and volunteers, the event is expected to bring visitors into local hotels, restaurants, retailers, and other businesses.

“Hosting the AAA State Legion Baseball Tournament is a tremendous opportunity for Marshfield,” Kumm said. “The tournament will bring eight of Wisconsin’s top Legion baseball teams, along with their families, coaches, and supporters, to our community from July 28 through August 1. Beyond showcasing our facilities and volunteers, the event will generate economic activity for local hotels, restaurants, retailers, and other businesses while highlighting Marshfield as a great place to live, work, and visit.”

The new scoreboard will also provide enhanced visibility for local sponsors and help recognize the organizations that continue to invest in youth sports and community facilities. Together, the scoreboard project and the upcoming tournament create a welcoming first impression for visitors while highlighting the strong partnerships that make Marshfield a destination for quality baseball and community events.

Wheelers Chevrolet GMC is proud to support projects that benefit local athletes, families, and the Marshfield community. The new scoreboard at Jack Hackman Field is a lasting example of what can happen when local organizations work together to support the places and programs that bring a community together.
